A Tree Falls in WeHo... and We Replace It
After January windstorms took down a tree near the Plummer Park Tennis Courts, the City of West Hollywood hosted its 2025 Annual Tree Planting Event to help restore the urban canopy. Volunteers assisted in planting a weeping bottlebrush — a low-water, pollinator-friendly tree with striking red flowers, perfect for Southern California’s climate. The event included a quick demo on planting basics and a short talk on the role trees play in a healthy urban environment. With gloves, tools, and guidance provided, neighbors got their hands dirty for a good cause. It’s all part of West Hollywood’s effort to protect, maintain, and grow its urban canopy — one tree at a time.
